Create a business card in Adobe InDesign Ep7/15 [Multimedia design course - Print] !!!

hello and welcome to this video tutorial don't hear from TGH dot com
in this video I'm going to discuss and demonstrate Create a business card in Adobe InDesign Ep7/15 [Multimedia design course - Print] !!! had to set up a simple business card Udupi InDesign
if you knew to InDesign I'll be taking you through all the details
and explaining all the things you need to be aware of when setting up a
document like this
later we will be exporting this document ready for print
so let's take a look at what we will be creating
to shoot is the business card design open the
print website design completely on looking this in preview mode
so if I press W we will enter into normal mode

we have the front at the back on the front

so in this occasion I'm going to go with the simple approach

we will need to set this to be printed using pantone colors
okay so before we start to build the design elements
we need to make sure we have the correct pantone colors ready to apply to the
design
so with the project folder opened love the gate to the project assets folder
in that open the branding folder and open the brand document
so here we are now in Adobe industry to
with the branding document was originally composed here we can clearly
see the Pantone Color references
to know I'm going to take the Pantone references and get the colors
be InDesign to to make this real easy I'm going to select the type
that states the Pantone says a copy
come into InDesign and just paste at a glance I can see the pan to

I'll come over to the swatches panel if you cannot see yours
you can come to window slowdown and activity swatches
there so I'll come up to the top right with a little menu icon
from the menu I'll select new color swatch
up up up the menu so from the color mode
I'll click and look for the Huntoon solid coated
option a select that and then in the Pantone box
I look over tonight reference in the campus area and type in the shoes
swatch fall story
when that appears on make sure its elected and kick
had and just like that we have to do you plan to swatch
swatches panel ready to use now we still have to do you come a swatch many books
open so I'll go ahead and type in the next watch

so with the selection to a click the reference
in the campus area and press backspace to remove them
to tidy up my swatches panel on select the top swatch

swatches many easy the last thing

but I'll drag it across in the pic sport like so
I now drag another from the top down in the peaceful

are coming to the page display in the pages panel
I double click on page one this will just exit the master page
notice now a background is applied to both the front
Backpage now if we look closely at the page display
in the pages panel and look at the pages we can see the on the display
we have the letter assigned to each page this means
that particular master page is applied more on that later
to know we have the back room setup let's
get the logo and so for this I'm going to jump back into the branding document
and select the logo that is set on the dock great background
no currently in Illustrator this is a group called individual
Dec shapes that's been grouped together
with the logo selected a copy command InDesign
and press Command the to paste and that is the logo
no because in design works with back to Sheetz
the vectors from industry to will be compatible with InDesign
so the logo will carry across perfectly nice
so I'll dragged into the center online data
perfectly press w/ to take a look previewed
to currently that logo is looking a little too big on the campus area
so with that selected oppressed by most cosa over the bottom right point
on the bounding box a press and hold SHIFT and
alt and click and drag in a little to get a more considered composition

it now we have a problem if we take
a look over the swatches panel we can see be have some news
watches here we have some CMYK swatches
how did they get that well when we pasted the logo from the branding
document
it carried the swatches across because the fact is we set up
CMYK it document know this is easy to fix
no bear in mind the colors applied to logo
on OC im Kate we do not want that
we need them all sect panto so
over the swatches panel houses I'm simply going to remove the sea in my
case watches
and replace them with the panto so I'll stop at the blue sea in my case watch
so I'll selected right click and delete
now upon trying to delete it in design will say
hang on a second you have design elements in the campus area
with this color: if you deleted you need to replace the cup
so from the defining swatch I will select the blue Pantone
I wish to replace it upon clicking OK
the same week a swatch will be removed and the design element in the campus
area that was previously filled with seem like a swatch
will now be filled with the Pantone swatch very convenient
so I'll do the same for the rest of the CMYK swatches
I'll delete them and replace them with the right Pantone Color
soon I have my logo sect the crap Pantone's
and DC my case watches removed so that finishes the composition for the cover
so moving on to the back here we are going to place the type
and boutiques Soulstar type so looking
at might design process document I decided to place the type on the left
and have some stroke behind right with the Patton
select Set this up so back in InDesign
oppressed W for normal mode welcome over to the pages panel
make sure I select the back page page
with its elected I come up to the top menu and click
layout and select margins and columns currently we can see the top
left bottom Android margin he said 12 I'm now going to set this to

take okay to now I have created it nice
inside margin guide here so let's begin with the project folder open
now the key to the project assets folder and in not
the copy folder and open the first document business card
copy so this is the copy we have been provided
to include the business card to back in InDesign
come over to the menu and choose the type to with it acted
I will click to start on the left inside margin
and just drag and drought to create B-type
books like so upon release we will see the type
prompt before I start to type I'm going to define my fault
to open the Control Panel click into the full need
and type opened and I'll select open sounds liked
you will need to install the font first refused to follow low
so will set the font
points I'll set the color
to the blue Pantone to back in the cockpit documents a copy the name
come back into design and paste and that's looking
okay for now know depending on your design

I want the name to be all caps so I'll select the
all caps I don't happened to control panel now
on this occasion I want a little more space between lactis
I'm going to tweak the tracking so up in the control panel
I'm going to set the tracking to 100 plus

now for this business card there is going to be

I'm going to create separate type boxes for the very least elements
so with the top tack box elected going to press
and hold alt and to contract down to depict the type box like so
I'm just place it neatly and top type

into the box and select the type I'll make sure
in the menu the font color selected an oil change this to the coop actor
now this type box is going to be for the job title
so I want the phone to be a little smaller so up in the control panel
I'll change the font size
so back in the copy document

paste so well choose the selection tool for the menu
impressed W to take a look much looking okay
but because the phone this particular small under the name
I may want to add more boldness to it for the sake of
legibility so I'll click to type box
double-click to go inside and select the type
with all selected I'll come up to the font in the control panel
and change the font to regular instead of liked
well to the selection to and click of two DC lacked this will add a little
boldness perfect so I'll press w/ again to enter into normal mode
with the selection to I'll just kick and drag
the box up a little Synnex I want to at the
contact details so again with the job description box
selected a press and hold alt and click drag down like so
so i'll check the box to meet the top the center line
and attract the type box down to meet the bottom of the inside knowledge it
the should give me plenty of space to fill the type
so back to the copy document a copy to contact details
and here a copy to web address as well back in InDesign
a select or the type and simply paste to place
to know the type is be I'm going to reformat it
so first with all the type selected
I'll come up to the control panel uncheck all caps
I'll change the color to the grape and Tim
and because the font is small I'll keep the fonts
to regular
overall look
to be minimal so I'll remove the type from email

equal spacing with it email address mobile
and direct phone numbers from the letters before moved to use it to track
so after E and d
I'm simply going to press tab the keyboard notice
who this pushes that type far away but they are all
liked next going to select
all the type above and press and hold command and shipped
and then press T this will now
put the tabs in so what I'm going to do here
is carefully come into the room henry et
above and where I think I want this space to be

snap to the specs we can see a little

so as I move this I can redefine the top space
once I'm happy I can close the tab ruler
selected E and the individually
up in the control panel I'll change the font to both
I'll choose a selection to 2d select the type
and press W and that's looking nice the
right now it's looking a little tight so a select the type box
double click into it and select the copy up in the control panel
I'll change the leading to 8 and that will create
just a little more space between the lines lastly
and select the web address changed color to do it blue Pantone
and select the selection to and kickoff now
if I feel the need job title to close just select them
and find cheap placement with the arrow keys on the keyboard
soon I have something that looks like this
so looking at the finish design I have these additional design elements here
strokes the patent now I'm going to create this
so our press w/ to go into normal mode welcome

the bleed line
then click drag down and left and finish
the book to bleed so with the selection to
select the line aka move into the stroke spinal

I want the pupil stroke-like to come down
as a reflection so I'll quickly select the blue line
a press Command CD copy conduct edit
and select paste place then a commit to object
transform and flip horizontal with the reflected line selected
a movie over to the right now this line issue
only to serve as a guide Synnex instead of the line to
going to use depend too to open the menu and select the pen to
to using the line as a guide I'll start from the right lead light
click over to where it joins and tick down
along the guide and on the right lead like so
once the line is created I'll be sure to click the
struggle in the menu and set this to the purple Pantone
once happy oppress be to select the blue line
and press backspace to remove oppressed W
to look at it in preview mode so I'll zoom in
where the lines meet with the selection to
are selected new lined and change the stroke

then right click and choose arrange and sent it back
so that's looking much cleaner now if the line a cost center
is not perfectly straight a compressed 8 activity
Direct Selection 2 to come and and move or down
slightly with the Hokies to straighten it like so so all that's left to do
is create the lost like so impressed W to go into normal mode
I'll select the line to draw a new line
said the stroke color to the grape and two a mix you the stroke is set to

all right click to stroke and centre-back zoom in and make sure it's
all cleaned
and it's looking pretty cool the last thing I need to do
is insist the Los design and the patent so looking at the finished design
we can see how the patent fits into the design in the bottom triangle zoom
know we created this patent in the previous episode ready for the business
card
if you have not seen how to create the patent I suggest you watch this video
tonight how that was done but now I'm going to bring in backpack be created

replace it if you're not familiar with design

we can draw custom shapes and play speeches then

my project folder navigate to the finished example
